In Contact: The Politics of Moving Bodies
The incursion of the digital reality into our physical lives pushes us to rethink the relationship to our bodies and the encounters with those of others. In this session director and actor Welket Bungué (Berlin Alexanderplatz) whose latest work Mudança is part of this year’s Forum Expanded, interacts with Natascha Noack, traveller between the realms of dance, movement, language and film. In a physically, yet not socially distanced meeting they will share clips from Welket’s films and performances in order to explore a body of work in multiple roles, deeply rooted in the geographical and political triangle of Portugal, Brazil and Guinea Bissau. Questions revolving around the impact of the performing body in social-political dynamics, the deliberations attached to representations of black bodies and the (im)possibility of unencumbered movement will fuel the understanding of Welket’s Self Portraying Cinema.
