Ctrl Alt Del: Leaving the System | Berlinale Talents 2020
Set in the spectacular landscapes of Battlefield V, the Berlinale Shorts film “How to Disappear” is an anti-war video project created by the members of the Digital Disarmament Movement. Rewiring the option to desert, their work rewrites the rules of the game. They are joined in their rule-bending by video-essayist Kevin B. Lee, who refashions the image surplus our video-sharing culture generates. By appropriating image loops created by Harun Farocki or ISIS videos, Lee’s work exposes the control images hold over us. If hacking is an art form, this session testifies to its philosophical power. Moderated by Anna Henckel-Donnersmarck
Berlinale Talents is the festival’s talent development programme for 250 emerging filmmakers and series creators from all over the world, featuring 30 public talks, workshops and screenings.
