Berlinale Shorts section head Anna Henckel-Donnersmarck met with Diogo Costa Amarante, Gabriel Herrera, Ulu Braun, Sasha Svirsky, Nadeshda Svirskaia and Güzin Kar, directors of “A Present Light”, “Motorcyclist´s Happiness won´t fit into his Suit”, “Glittering Barbieblood”, “Vadim on a Walk” and “Your Street”. Screening in the 2021 Berlinale Shorts programme.
About the films:
A Present Light: One rainy night, Gonçalo sets off to give his lost love one last letter. “Beware of the slippery road!” warns Diana from the street corner. In vain. An accident that is both an end and a beginning.
Motorcyclist´s Happiness won´t fit into his Suit: There he sits proudly on his beautiful motorbike which he would never loan to anyone. He is certain that he alone can explore the jungle. A playful re-enactment with reversed roles that takes aim at the hubris of the colonial conquerors.
Glittering Barbeiblood: A young mother and her daughters are sitting under a bridge. The camera scans the surroundings and accompanies them as they go on a strange journey under the radar of symbols. How does one grow up in this kind of world?
Vadim on a Walk: The amazing and disturbing adventures of Vadim who dares to leave his familiar square and explore the world.
Your Street: A public memorial against right-wing violence – consigned to no man’s land. A film against collective amnesia.
