Bong Joon-Ho & Lorna Tee | Berlinale Talents 2015
Film may be a universal medium, but there are countless obstacles to overcome in bringing films from their local origins to international audiences. Films from a specific region often convey elements of their regional context: its cultural heritage, social and political preoccupations, genres and traditions, and modes of communicating and telling stories.
Bong Joon-Ho, South Korean director of “Parasite”, “Okja” and “The Host”, and producer Lorna Tee (“Postcards from the Zoo”) bring their broad experience in making films that are successful for both local and international markets to this discussion. While developing stories to bridge the cultural divide, what should be considered at the script level, in choosing production partners, cast and crew, and in designing a distribution and marketing strategy?
Moderated by Christoph Gröner.
Berlinale Talents is the festival’s talent development programme for 250 emerging filmmakers and series creators from all over the world, featuring 30 public talks, workshops and screenings.
