The Academy Reaches Out To Young Filmmakers In Sarajevo
The Academy arranged for five filmmakers to take a virtual trip across the globe to the Sarajevo Talent Campus for an innovative video conference on Monday, July 9, 2012.
Affonso Gonçalves (Editor, “Beasts of the Southern Wild” and “Winter’s Bone”), Academy member and Oscar nominee Debra Granik (director, “Winter’s Bone”), Academy member Suzana Peric (music editor, “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” and “The Silence of the Lambs”), Academy member and Oscar nominee Celine Rattray (producer, “The Kids Are All Right” and “New York, I Love You”), and Academy member and Oscar nominee Kristi Zea (production designer for “Revolutionary Road” and “The Departed”) gathered for over an hour in a conference room at Sony Pictures in New York City for a panel moderated in Sarajevo by film critic and historian Nebojša Jovanović with over 60 young filmmakers from Southeast Europe, including such countries as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Hungary, Macedonia and Serbia.
